Kirk Lindo

Kirk Lindo Bio

Kirk Lindo is an alumnus of the prestigious School of Visual Arts in Manhattan, New York. As a student there he had the rare privilege of studying under comics’ legend, Will Eisner. Will Eisner’s class on sequential art was THE place to hone your craft as a young artist growing up in New York. The class had regular guest lecturers such as Frank Millar, Chris Claremont as well as many other industry professionals who would regularly visit the class to instruct and inspire the students.
Kirk’s first professional work of an artistic nature was not in comics but in advertising and marketing. He began his career as an art director for an advertising agency and later became a marketing director for a New York Sportswear manufacturer.
Kirk’s first break into the comic industry came in the early 90’s when he answered an ad for a company looking for artists. When he showed up, the company owners commented that he was the only guy to answer the ad in a suit and a tie and after looking at his resume and portfolio, hired him on the spot as the company’s first editor.
That company was Personality Comics. A small but highly successful comic publisher in the early 90’s who marketed a line of biography comics. Kirk went on to become the company’s Editor In Chief and Senior Vice President of Product Development. Kirk helped the company grow from an office of three to a full blown studio employing over 30 in-house artists.
Kirk’s most successful accomplishment for the company was the creation of the SPOOF COMICS line. The Spoof imprint gave Kirk the opportunity to work with some of the comic industry’s best, up and coming talents including Adam Hughes, Joe Linsner, Jason Pearson, Jackson Guice, Joe Phillips, Cully Hamner, Mike Bair, Mike Oeming, Dave Johnson, Collen Doran, Jimmy Palmiotti, John Dell, Brian Stelfreeze and many more.

Personality Comics also published Kirk’s first creator owned project, RESCUEMAN, under the BEST COMICS imprint. After honing his editorial and artistic skills, Kirk decided to strike out on his own and in 1993, launched BRAINSTORM COMICS. The company published a variety of creator owned properties with mild success but it was Lindo’s own creation of the comic VAMPEROTICA that put the company on the comic map in the mid to late 90’s.

Vamperotica is an erotic vampire anthology. The covers and interior pages of the Vamperotica comic featured his most enduring creation, The Vampress Luxura, who has appeared in hundreds of comics, cards & magazines. What started off as a hard to find indie anthology turned into one of the hottest comics in the industry. The “hotness” of the comic was embodied in his drop dead gorgeous vampire, Luxura. Luxura’s unique hair, voluptuous curves and insatiable lust for the blood of men and women captivated readers right from the very first issue.

The pages of the Vamperotica comics also contained art & stories by some of the top names in the comic business including Jim Balent, Buzz, Everette Hartsoe, Jimmy Palmiotti, Kevin Taylor, Mitch Byrd, David Mack, Mike Oeming, Fauve A.K.A. Holly Golightly, Mshindo I, Georges Jeanty, Billy Dallas Patton, Karl Waller, Leonard Kirk, David Quinn, Mike Deodato, Ed Benes, Al Rio, Mike Wolfer and David Quinn just to name a few.

The original Vamperotica series ran for 50 issues and spun off into several even more successful projects including magazines, trading cards, statues, musical CD’s and even a movie. Kirk wrote and directed his own movie based on his property entitled Vamperotica: Tales from the Bloodvault. Kirk also directed a short behind the scenes video entitled Vamperotica: Flesh & Blood in which he produced a live version of his Luxura character featuring model Julie Strain.
Though his interests and creative endeavors are varied, he never strays too far away from his greatest passion, which is to create and publish beautiful artistic images. The art of Kirk Lindo is widely sought after by collectors around the world, and his detailed, sultry drawings are at times breath-taking to behold. Kirk has created fabulous illustrations, sketch art and comic art commissions of characters such as Luxura, Storm, Supergirl, Vampirella, Lady Death, Wonder Woman, Harley Quinn, Powergirl, Vixen, Cavewoman, She-Hulk, Scarlet Witch, Jessica Rabbit, Red Sonja, Rogue and countless others.
Kirk is currently working on Commissions and a new Vampress Luxura Graphic Novel.
